KCB Bank Tanzania has marked another milestone in the development of Tanzania's capital markets following the official listing of Mapato Sukuk on the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE), after receiving overwhelming investor interest that significantly exceeded its initial fundraising target.
The listing ceremony was held at the DSE premises in Dar es Salaam and brought together key stakeholders from the financial sector, including representatives from the Capital Markets and Securities Authority (CMSA), the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE), investors, and other capital market participants.
KCB Mapato Sukuk is a continuation of KCB's Shariah-compliant bond programme. Launched in April 2026 with a target of raising TZS 10 billion, the Sukuk received investment applications worth TZS 30.24 billion, representing 302% of the original target. This strong response demonstrates the growing confidence of investors in Shariah-compliant investment products.
Speaking at the event on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer of KCB Bank Tanzania, Mr. Amour Muro said, “The success of Mapato Sukuk sends a clear message that investors are increasingly seeking transparent, reliable and Shariah-compliant investment opportunities. The strong response from both local and international investors demonstrates their confidence in KCB Bank's ability to provide innovative financial solutions that promote financial inclusion and sustainable growth."
The listing of Mapato Sukuk further reinforces KCB Bank's commitment to expanding access to innovative financial solutions that meet the needs of diverse customer segments while supporting the country's sustainable development priorities.
Further, it is expected to contribute to the growth and diversification of Tanzania's capital markets while strengthening the country's position as a regional hub for Islamic finance in East Africa.
